Today for the first time, I took the shuttle up to Giant Forest in Sequoia. It was nice and I'll definately do it again soon. The hike I wanted to do starts at Wolverton and unfortunalely the shuttle doesn't go there. I got dropped off at the General Sherman tree and walked proabably about 2 miles to the trailhead at Wolverton. I had to keep track of my time because I needed to make sure I don't miss the bus back home! I took the Watchtower trail route which is really awsome. The pictures can't really show how awsome it is.. It took me 2 hrs to get to Heather lake where I had lunch for about 1/2 hr. and it took me 1 1/2 hrs to get back down. From there I had to walk back to the Sherman tree again:o I got to my shuttle stop with 30 mins to spare:)

Very cool pics! That area is incredible.. The tree's are unreal. I've been there a few times and its always nuts when you look up and cant see the tops of the tree's!

I've always loved that area. I hope you guys that live down there don't take it for granite.;)

These west coast pics are making me itch to get back. I've never been to that area but I did spend some time in the Redwoods up north. Humbling to be in their presence, huh? Great pictures! Thanks for sharing them.:)

Now where are the knife pics?

Seqouia is on of my favorite places on earth. Very cool pics Ray, looks like an awesome time.

WOW - I stare in amazement every time I look at a pic of Seqouia. I'll make it there some day. Thanks for sharing the pics, man.

Awesome. I love the Watchtower, I could sit up there all day. my wife and I did that trail last summer

Sweet pics. I really want to see a tree that big

Maybe I will make it to Cali some time.

Thanks guys. I actually planned to go a little farther than where I ended up but I ran out of time. The Watchtower is was a nice surprise. I wasn't expecting it and I almost took the "Hump" route which is slightly shorter but "Watchtower" sounded more interesting:D! Here are some more pics from this hike...

I guess this means the Watchtower trail is open now, it was still closed a couple weeks ago. I like the Watchtower trail, it's really cool when you get to the Watchtower on top of that nice cliff. And it is actually a shorter route to Pear, Emerald, and Heather Lakes than the Hump route (appropriately named, if you ever have the fun of taking it with a full pack).

Are you still going to join us on the Mosquito Lakes trip on July 10?
