Hey guys I'm looking for a nice flipper to EDC something with a 3 1/2 to 4" blade, I'm looking to spend around $50-$100. Something with pretty good steel would be ideal but I have to trouble sharpening my own knives. It can be manual or assisted I'm fine with either as long as it opens fast.
So far I've been looking at the Kershaw Spec bump, Shallot, and Groove.

The best action on any production knife is the Kershaw RAM, but it's a little smaller than your request.

The JYD is super flickable, the Spec Bump, as mentioned will do the job, although it's AO and therefore, in my opinion, less fun. I think the Boa is in your range too.

I'd say the JYD CB would be perfect. Just the right size, grippy, great steal, composite blade for coolness, and a big fat blade to flick. 80 dollars too, so it comes in under your limit.

JYDII-CB
Shallot
Spec Bump and Boa might be a bit over $100

Don't forget about the Lahar! :D

We seem to both be in love with the same knives.

RAM or JYDII CB all the way!

Look for a Kershaw Cyclone, large or small. They were recently discontinued but they are still available without much effort.

They have sold for as low as $30 and that, is a huge bargain. Plus, they allow you to toggle between AO and manual with the flip of a small thumb wheel.

I liked the Groove of the Kershaws, but personally, I think the DDR Maxx Q1A "Mid-Tech" flipper is MUCH nicer, although admittedly more expensive. I had a couple Grooves & got rid of both of them after getting the DDR. It's the same size as the Groove (4.5" closed with 3.5" blade), but it's noticeably lighter, more comfortable in the hand, & has better steel (S30V).

The Spec Bumps are nice, too, but big. However, you did say you want something with a 3.5"-4" blade, so you probably like them big. In that case, you could pick up a like new Speed Bump for around $50. While it doesn't have the S30V of the Spec Bump, it is Sandvik, & pretty decent.

Good luck with whatever you get.

Gotta go with the Kershaw JYD II Composite! Match it up with a low rider clip from STR and you make a great carry even greater!:D

;)
one of those S60V Blurs with the Tom Krein regrind.

my best friend linked me to picks of it the other day...i want one so bad! $115 is a little pricey tho...maybe next paycheck :D
here is my suggestion tho
this was actually a Christmas present from that same friend. im so glad we have similar taste in knives. I let him find the new cool things and he does all the research and then i buy one for myself...it pisses him off so bad. i have a little (much) bigger knife budget than him ;)
