Nice Finish on Recent Purchases

I have purchased several new Old Timers and Uncle Henry's for me and for my kids when they get older. The fit and finish has been exceptional. Darn shame what happened to Schrade.

I noticed on the tang of the recent Old Timers that I bought what appears to be glass bead type finish. Have not seen that on older models. The Uncle Henry's with the Schade+ blades did not except for one, which was a Rancher 834 that I just bought. The sheepsfoot and spey blades do have a beaded finish but not the main clip point. In looking at the blades it almost appears that the other two were the carbon steel and not Schade+ since they have a different luster than the clip point. Has Shrade put some of the carbon steel blades on the Uncle Henry's?

Schrade has never put carbon steel on the UH. Unless something happened in the last hours?

I noticed the finish cahnge too. it was probably jsut a money saver. I just purchased a middleman and noticed the tang had the rough finish, was not satin finished like the rest of the blade. Im sure it came down to time and money, maybe the workers attitude? Since they had laid off many people, then hired them back not long before they shut the doors, Im sure the workers may not have cared too much what happened? As far as the reason they were not finished as well? Money??

Its a shame they made some great working knives.
