Went to one of my favorite local places, haven't been in a while. The weather was nice too.
These looked like mini watermelons, not sure what it is.

The surrounding rocky outcroppings are amazing

I would love to, you have some nice country up there! I wish I lived closer to some big mountains and tall trees!

And the Bravo is such a cool field blade. Perfect size, handle shape, etc. And I love A2 steel.

you're welcome anytime..... my schedule is pretty laxed during the summer, and my wife has every other fri. off..... we have some killer mtn. biking trails just minutes out my front door.... do you have a mtn. bike....??

i'm always down for some trading.... :D

I did, but I sold it. It was sweet too, a Specialized Skunkworks, with all the bells and whistles.

i'm down to only 1 bike right now.... :( but my neighbor has a few bikes, we ride together a lot...

hopefully you can make it out.... there is a lot to do around here.... there is some great climbing too, only about 45 min. away.... castle rock state park...

That first pool with the small falls is probably around 5-6 ft deep, and about 20-25 ft across. Definitely enough to cool off. I have waded through some of the shallower parts. Nice for a quick foot cooling on a hot day.

Very nice. Is that high desert area? Looks a lot like an area in Nevada that I used to hike.

tknife: Great pics, that is some beautiful hiking area! I was going to ask were that was but from the comments it seems you are at least quite a bit south of Santa Cruz, so I guess I won't be going there any time soon.

mntfolk mike: You can hunt in the Santa Cruz mountains? What kind of hunting do you do there? Santa Cruz and the Santa Cruz mountains are beautiful. My grandfather lives in Los Gatos(just inland of the SC Mnts.) and he has a beach house a few minutes from Santa Cruz. I've been trying to talk my wife into doing some mountain biking in the Santa Cruz Mtns. but she don't really care much for going on strenuous bike rides and trying to keep up with me.

Thanks for the kind words guys. This area is in Southern California, about 45 minutes outside of LA. Most of the areas around and that I hike are high desert type terrain.
