I picked this up on ebay cause thought it would be a nice gift for a friend who might be a "gentleman". Does anyone know when this was offered by Buck? I am wondering if the engraving was done by someone AFTER it left the Buck factory.

thanks!

The 525 has been offered for a long time. I would say that the engraving was very nicely done after the knife left Buck.

That is a limited edition "silver series" from around 1998. There are three more similar models and you could obtain a small clear plastic display case for them.

hummm now i know were that one went also.... cool and nice knife

there was one in sterling also..

Larry, can you tell me what the other three were engraved?
Dave, werre you wathing this one on the "bay or do you mean something else? You guys have my curiosity going now.

Its says it is a 526 but I have no box or papers with it. The blade is untouched but the knife does show some "pocket carry" wear.

thanks

I turned 50 on April 2nd.

Was wondering where my gift from you was Harry.

But...being a "gentleman", I didn't want to push the issue...

tifiney is one and the other i dont recall but i thingk there were 3 that had sterling silver sides ... there was even i 110 in sterling as part of a set...

I did a quick check in the computer and found several 525 with Sterling Silver overlays that we have done over the years.
525ss-sterling silver, 525ao-American oak, 525bk-Sterling silver Buck logo, 525nra-Sterling silver nra logo less than 10 made though, 525od-Sterling silver with gold oak leaf, 525sg-Sterling silver with gold.
The 525ss and bk are shown in Buck's 1999 catalog andthey are diferent than yours.
The 1998 catalog shows the 525ol, and sg.

Yours is the 525ol.
I hope this helps.
