Sorry to post this in the wrong place, but I wanted to make sure everyone saw it. Here's a mill that would be perfect for a home shop that I'm trying to help an older lady neighbor get rid of. Her father in law left it to her husband who has also now passed away. It's an Index number 40 vertical mill. The machine seems smaller than a Bridgeport and also smaller than a Millrite, but a bit larger and beefier than a small Rockwell or Clausing. Much more rigid than a Mill/Drill in about the same footprint. It has a mechanical power feed on the table X axis and power feed on the quill. It can also tilt the head on the X axis. It was rewired and the motors rewound to operate on single phase 220 and I have run it under power. The bearings sound ok. There's a couple chucks, a nice vise (not the one pictured, much nicer) and a bunch of endmills as well as some other tooling included.
This is available in So Cal for local pick up only and the price is $600.00 with a bunch of tooling. I think it could be moved with an engine hoist and a low uhaul trailer with lots of chain or tie downs, I'd guess the weight at around 1000 lbs, but it could be a bit more.
I live only a couple blocks away and will make myself available to help with loading if needed. I'd buy it myself but I already have a Bridgeport and no more space in my shop (which you're welcome to visit while in the neighborhood).
