How many people can look out their window and see this ? Technically it is the neighbors back yard, but we have them at our house on a regular basis...

I was sitting in the den on the computer and felt like I was being watched, so I looked up to see this fella staring at me :D There were three bucks out there, and the one I really wanted a good picture of had a rack about the same width as this one, but it is about 18 inches taller. It looks like a small elk. My photo ops are kinda limited because I grabbed my phone, and took it through the window.

The third buck we call Elliott. He has been around here for a few years now, and every year he only sports half of his forked horn head gear. He can't seem to pull the complete rack program off...

Nice buck, Mike.
Mostly whitetail hunter here, being in PA.
My first and the largest buck I've yet gotten was a 13 point muley in Texas
on my 13th birthday.
Great fun for a thirteen year old with his first rifle.

Never been on an elk hunt but know you have, will you go this year ?

You got off to a great start at 13 Doug :D I get more excitement seeing kids get their first deer or elk, than I do when I get one.
Don't get me wrong, I do still get excited :D

Yes, I will be elk hunting again this year. It actually works out great in Oregon for bow hunters. We get to hunt deer and elk at the same time, and our season is 5 weeks long. I haven't hunted with a rifle for about 10 years now.
It is really the only thing I do. We never go on vacations like normal people, so I burn up all of my vacation time during hunting season

I don't make a habit of bringing people up to our camp, because we are very particular about who hangs out. Actually the only person I have invited was my step son. He wanted to hunt with us really bad, so I told him when I was comfortable with how he was shooting I would take him.
We hunt hard, and go into some of the deepest canyons in the area, so I told him to start working out about 6 months before the season started. He thought I was trying to kill him lol. He did fine, and had a great time.

I've told Mack if he can ever time it right, I would take him up to our hunting camp. I've told Sheldon the same, and will make you the same offer if you ever get out this way during hunting season.

That's a very generous offer, Mike, and I sure appreciate it. :)
Trouble is I don't get out your way much at all.
Other thing is I haven't bow hunted for about 10 years. :D

Does sound like a great time, I know you're serious about your hunting time.
Best possible way to spend vacation if ya' ask me.

It's a great excuse to come out west Doug. Don't worry about the bow, you still have a little over seven years to practice :D

It really is a great time. I've gotten to the point in life where I can honestly have a great season even if I don't get anything. I still have great memories from each season of being close to the animals, and playing the game.
The wife wants to make a trip all the way down the Oregon coast this year. It would be fun, but I told her we ain't goin during hunting season :D

That's a heck of a deer. I see the occasional big deer around here, but nothing that size and that tame.

I'm still trying to get a good picture of the really big buck Cooper. In all the years I have hunted, I have never seen Muley bucks out in the woods that are as big as the ones that hang around the house...

As much as I love to hunt, and really like the meat, I get almost as much enjoyment just watching them around the house. A few years back we had a really tough winter, with a lot of snow piled up, and I knew it was going to be rough for the deer, so I kept a supply of hay and Alfalfa scattered out for them until the snow started melting off.
