Nice old Dunlop axe and hatchet

I found this nice old Dunlop axe at a widow's garage sale a few days ago. It's handle paint matches that of a hewing hatchet I already had. The axe looks to have been little used over the years.

Interesting that the poll chipped rather than mushroom. Run a file over it and see what you can find out. That axe may turn out to be more useful than you thought.
 
I just bought a Dunlap double bit last week.

Dunlap was a line of tools sold by Sears, named after the head of their tool division, Tom Dunlap.

Mine is painted green on the haft where yours is red. I wonder what that means. I didn't get any pics of mine yet.

I have a green handled one too, maybe they just changed the colors for something to do.
