We have a Christmas tradition in my family that I buy a small "boy's gift" for the guys, and my wife buys a "girl's gift" for the gals, and we open them on Christmas Eve. I have a son and two sons-in-law (and of course I have to get one of the same for me
), so that's four of whatever I pick out each year. Well, as you can imagine, my little gift is often a knife, but when it is I have to give it some thought because the other boys aren't really "knife guys".
This year I stumbled on what I think will be a good one: the "Luxe" model Opinel No. 8 with Bubinga scales and a mirror polished Inox (stainless) blade. It comes in a gift box with a small velvet sheath. It is an attractive little package, and the bubinga + mirror finish really sets it apart from the everyday Opies. I think it'll also be a good choice for my "non-knife guys" in that it should make a great paring knife in the kitchen. I will sharpen these little guys up to a nice edge so they'll be slice-ready.
Finally, these are a really nice bargain, IMO. They are available at many online sites, including the well-known auction site, and I got them at under $22.00/each shipped. I'm really pleased with these, and the bang-for-the-buck factor is way up there.
Merry Christmas!
