Nice pen that uses Pilot G-2 refills?

I really like the Pilot G-2 gel ink pens. Smoothest writers around. But I don't like the clip. I keep my pens clipped in my back pocket, and it'll occasionally get snagged and the clip will snap off.

I'm aware of the G-2 Limited, but I'm unconvinced that the pocket clip won't break off just like the cheaper plastic ones. Or are my worries unfounded? It also looks a bit fatter than I'd like.

Is there anybody that makes a well-built, heavy duty pen that uses the G-2 refills? Preferably steel bodied, with a steel clip. Something with a bit of heft, but not too heavy. Not too fat. Clicky is a must.

Or is there a similar pen with gel ink that uses different refills that I should look at? If only they made gel refills for the Zebra 701...the reason I like gel ink is because it writes on surfaces at work that a regular ball-point doesn't work well on (even Space Pens).

I don't know of any more sturdy pens, but definitely agree with you about Pilot pens! They are all I will use. Good luck!

The clip on the Limited is definitely sturdier than the plastic ones. I have enjoyed mine thoroughly. Hardest part of ownership is keeping my wife from stealing it.

The G2 limited is a great pen and one that I've carried just about every day for about two years. The clip is metal and mine is as snug as the day I got it.

I guess I'll take another look at the G2 Limited. Is the body all metal? Or is it a metallic coating? What about the nose, is it metal too? Is there metal-to-metal contact or is there a plastic sleeve?

I think it's possible to mod the Zebra F701 to take Parker refills.

The mod is similar to modding it for Space Pen refills. Remove the plastic spacer from inside the nose cone. It may also be necessary to snap the plastic spacer from the top of the Parker refill. It may also be necessary to trim the spring.

I'd try it to double check, but I've lost my last 4 or 5 Zebra F701's and I still need to get another one.

As far as I can tell, it's all metal, including the nose cone. There may be some plastic inside, but it's an extremely sturdy pen. It is a little fatter than some pens, but I like that about it.

If anything, the pocket clip is almost too snug, but I have no fear of losing this pen.

On the job, I carry the Pilot PHD pens, they use the G2 refills and have a good sturdy basic design.. Ive been carrying them for over 5 yrs and have yet to get the clip snag or separate from the barrel..
