I was in walmart today and they had a nice pre packaged first aid kit in the sporting goods section. It was $10.00 in a nice red, zippered pouch, I took the cheap band-aids out and put the 3M brand in its place, there are alot of different pain relievers, tweezers, gauze, moleskin, first aid manual. I will be adding more of my favorite things too it. Just thought I would pass this along

I've seen that one and almost bought a couple. As I picked them up, the wife said, hey we got all that stuff at home. She put together our FAKs for us. All I had to do was come up with some inexpensive pouches and a couple of tool boxes for the main BOB FAK.

i bought a couple of the smaller ones and gave them to the kids for carry when we are in the woods. that way they can take care of their minor scrapes and cuts, and get the feeling they can be responsible for their own wellbeing in the woods.

I started with my GI First Aid Kit then began swapping out the contents with more relevant items. The Military kit is in a plastic box and it will hold quite a bit of stuff. Another good pouch is the magazine pouch for the AK-47. They are available everywhere for about $5-8.00 and have quite a bit of volume. With the prepackaged kits I always start substituting stuff so for me its best to just put one together.

I've gotten a couple of kits and had one put together by a forumite by the name of Flotsam. I don't know if he's on this forum but he is on www.TheHighRoad.org. His stuff is all hospital grade and he has great prices as well as the fact that he's willing to put something together for your exact needs and wants.

Everyone may want to check for medical supply stores in their city. There are a few around that carry better products and accessories, like Biersdorf stuff, and individual doses of meds as well as triple antibiotic packets.

I carry a small "kit" in one of those advertising bandaid dispensors that insurance companies give out when it's time for benefit fairs at employers. Have a few bandaids, some Steristrips, #10 and #11 scalpel blades, and triple anitbiotic packets. Only about 1/2" thick (or less), 1.25 wide, and 4.25 long. Very handy.

Also scour the Walmarts, and any drug stores for bargains on content items. If you have family or friends who are interested enough to carry stuff like this, you can easily breakdown into multiple kits, spreading the costs.

You can also make small on-person kits, a bigger car kit, a house kit, and a BOB kit.
