Toyed with the idea of buying a Queen fixed blade in D2 for over a year. Finally, when I saw this model, I made the leap.

D2 steel full tang construction, attractive red spacers between the stag handles, and a nice tube sheath from Green River Leather Works.

The only thing I'm not wild about is the blade etching on the other side. Though large in size, the etching is lightly done, and I'll probably buff it out eventually.

It has a nice feel overall. The edge needed considerable work, but it now shaves with ease.

That is a very nice Christmas present to yourself! Tell how it works out after you give it a good workout!

Guyon,
Nice knife!!:)

I've been looking at Queen fixed blades too but I haven't seen any in person or even any good pictures online that I could get a "feel" for them.

Your pictures have made my choice easier. Thanks!!:)

PS - Merry Christmas!!

Here are a couple more pics.

This version is a collector's edition and has a sizable etching on one side. Not wild about it, but I bought the knife as a user, and the etching sure won't interfere with function.

I do like the red spacers you can see in the pic of the spine. Gives the knife a classy look.

I recieved my stag handled Queen Hunter a week or so ago. Classy looking and nicely done, except for the blade etching. Feels really nice in hand. I have some other Queens in D2, and I'm sure this one will perform equally well.

I'm curious. Is there a best way to buff out the etching and restore the mirror finish?

I don't have a buffer, but I seem to recall that some folks here have used progressively finer sandpaper, a lot of hand rubbing, and even more patience.

Details anyone?

Damn...I hate etched blades. Is it over the whole blade? :(

Me too. I am still trying to decide if I want to attempt polishing mine away, or to just sell/return them (I have both the "1 of 17 made" stag-handled versions pictured above and the regular Micarta-handled one). I will probably keep one of them, but I am not sure yet. They both appear like thay will be great cutters...but I really wish the folks at QUEEN adheared more to the K.I.S.S. principle. Nevertheless, I still love my winterbottom canoe. :)
