carterbon asked me to display these pics for them. they are selling this display for an older gentleman. Im not trying to sell it here but they are looking for you guys to give them some estimates or ideas of what they might get for this or where they could go to sell it cause I believe they are attempting to avoid ebay. Once again its not for sale here they are just looking for some help, asking price where to go to sell it etc. carterbon feel free to jump in here and fill in the blanks.- Joel

Let him buy a membership for here or try someone like Bruce Voyles for an estimate and to sell on his auction site.He seems to do well on his auctions.Arnold

Without going over every knife individually to date the display, I am first drawn to the 6 1/2" GF65 Grafillet Bigmouth and 4 ½" GF45 Grafillet Littlemouth. These both were discontinued after 1985, being only produced for three years, making them relatively uncommon today. So if these are original to the case, it dates between 1982 and 1985. Some more "pattern spotting" might narrow that a bit more. Like the 154OT Drop Point Hunter which was dropped after 1988, and the 156OT Little Finger dropped after 1985. The LB-1 was begun in 1982. So we are back to 1982-85. Looking at the flyers on the collector's archive site might narrow that more. Also running the stats on every pattern might, but easier to just find the display in the fliers.

I was told it was bought in 84or85 and every knife in the display is unused. I dont know the condition seeing as how they may of never seen oil but I do know they are all supposed to be unused and codger you are dead on from what carterbon told me about them being bought in 84-85 time frame.-joel

That 197UH is a nice little gem as well. Shipping that monster is where the difficulties arise.

The panels fit into this cabinet unit not shown in the flyer above:

And yes, they were still sold in 1984.

These old displays are great... and sad at the same time. In order to bring the most money, they are most often stripped and the knives sold individually. Few of us (there are some) can afford the price of the display cabinet with all knives intact and the shipping. The case itself weighs 72 pounds and the contents weigh 28 pounds, 100 pounds total before crating and packing material. And my wife would kill me. Yours would too. Now Larry...er...I mean Irv, well his wife would be understanding and visit him every day in the hospital.

Hmmm, a business trip to the midwest has just sprung up on my calendar. (I wish):(

Thats what sucks about being a regular joe, but I guess if I were rich and could afford every knife I wanted the thrill and the hunt would both worthless to me.. not that I didint wish I made a little more than construction workers salary you know just to help with my knife addiction.-Joel

Joel - that case is just like the one I told you about for $80! Of course there were no knives in that one. :D

Blue Ridge Knives will buy it. They advertise they buy all collections, no collection too large or too small. I do not know their website off the top of my head but a quick google search will get you there.

Best,
Anthony
