Jay M. and Pete brought me this old pipe-threading machine today, this thing is built like a tank. Boy is this going to make it easy for twisting Damascus. It is reversible so you can do left-hand and right-hand twists. :D :D :D

Very cool, IG! Hook a couple rosebuds up for heating the billet in place and you'll be amazed at the results you can get. Guy in Wisconsin named Ponzio does that and the twist is the tightest I've seen. Enjoy!

BTW, did you happen to watch "The Great Biker Buildoff" 'tween Billy Lane and Indian Larry? Larry twisted the downtube for a frame out of 2" solid squarestock. He did it in a reversing twist. Really enjoyed that part of the show.

DIdn't see that whole episode, but did see that downtube, was great looking. Also liked the custom downtube on Bergeron's bike on one of other episodes.

For those that like the show, and have missed any of them, Discovery has the full set avialable on DVD, and even better, this sunday they're playing them all back to back. THink they're starting at 11AM Eastern.

I missed it. I'll try to catch it today. I wonder how a twisted damascus sissy bar would look on the HD????   Only kiddin or maybe not. HEHEHE!!!!

Sign me up for one. :)

Don't even really like the looks of a sissy bar, only reason I'll get one si for one of those big backpack style sissy bar bags, but a damascus one, that's a completely different story. Maybe with a clearcoat finish so it doesn't rust? Tool cool.

Screw chroming out my bike, gotta start adding damascus accessories. Start small, I'll take a horn cover to start IG. ;)

I always had visions of mounting twin cannons on mine. I guess that's why I went back to bicycles! :o

That's a cool idea. Do a little translucent airbrush work (some blues and reds) on it then clearcoat.   :D

Dang it George, now I've been sitting here today trying to think of what kinda things I can make myself for my bike. :) WIth my limited abilities and equipment, only come up with the saddle bag brackets os far(hey, out of 1095 or similar, even if I color match them shoudl be able to do it for less than half the cost of buying them). But the idea of damascus accessories is really intriguing me. Oh well, will have to put those on back burner until I get setup to make my own. Wil have to see what else I might be able to come up with though.

If you like bar risers, they would be really unique in twisted Damascus!

Damn that is a cool idea too.  Make them out of 1 1/2" twisted billet.

Definitely a cool idea Don. Been happy with my stock bars/bar height so far, but now I'm really thinking about that evbery time I look at it.

Only problem is, stupid bike has one piece bars/risers, so I'd have to switch to another set of bars to do it. Luckily know of naother set that's supposed to work. Think I may have to dig up a set now, whether I like stock ones or not.

Anyone sell damascus round stock? :)

I'll let you know after I try making the risers. Making round stock is no problem.

Thanks IG.
What do you have for a Putt?????
I us thinking(scary) that I have a sets of old riser to cut tthe tops of and run a 1/2" threaded rod thru the hold thing and just put a nut to hold it to the triple tree.

That's almost exactly what I was thinking, though it wsa just a rough idea. This is my first bike, and only had it for two weeks(tomorrow) so don't exactly have huge amount of experience with bikes. Unless of course'n you count watching American CHopper and Biker BUild Off. :)

But was planning on junkyard/ebay shopping for a set of Ace Grips and risers, then checking them out and seeing what I could do once I get them(I know they fit my bike the way theey are). Best idea I had come up with so far though was to do exactly what you said. Actually, my very first idea, was to do that with my stock bars, just using the damascus almost as a spacer between the grips and the tree.
