Looking for recommendations for a scout style knife with a nice finish. Basically a SAK with a blade, saw, bottle/can openers for a little guy, but something nicer looking than a SAK. Any ideas?

The saw part is going to be hard, I think only the SAK Farmer or other SAKs sport this feature. Traditional/hunting fishing patterns have saws but not he other tools. Anyway, here's some bone handled Scouts with a bail, Rough Rider left, Schatt & Morgan right.

I have 2 sons who are currently in scouts and one former Scout who is now (shudder ) a carpenters apprentice in New Zealand.
With regard to the saw thing it's probably better to get a small pruning saw from the hardware store-for cutting fire wood.
Saws on knives are IMO a waste of time. maybe not for an adult . That begs the question how little is the guy we're talking about?
and is he gunna be using a saw?and what for -craft? modelling? survival?
Doubt it. And Better to use a proper saw first.
Those RR scouts are perfect for the first timer youngster. I recently bought a nice SAK for my 12 yo nephew .Got his name engraved on the blade.
Not being a Scout he was seen to be running around with it pretending to stab stuff.Idiot. it got confiscated.
the other option is an old school US boy scout penknife off ebuy.

You can search for and old Camillus C4, Remington R4 (Camillus IIRC), Craftsman 9555 (Schrade Walden). There are others. If you're patient you can find them in good shape and inexpensive.

SAK Alox Farmer is a pretty good looking knife. Swiss Bianco has some colored versions for better prices than at auction.

The Marble's Workman is a pretty good knife. Not "official" boy scout, but well made and inexpensive.

Would actually prefer it dodnt have any boy scout markings if possiblel. Thank you for the recommendations. Good stuff so far.

If you're looking for something a bit smaller for every day use, I'd go a Case Jr. Scout Pocket Knife. Stainless steel blades. Jigged bone. No "scout" emblem. You can pick it up from a big online retailer for $60:

While a bit harder to find, I just got this A. G. Russell Premium Scout (made by Camillus back in 2004) and I love it:

The newer A. G. Russell Scout knives look ok (made by S&M and Boker), but I haven't seem them in person. I have heard good things about the Rough Riders.

Of course, there are plenty of vintage "scout style" knives that you can pick up from a big online auction site for $20-30 each. I am particularly fond of old Camillus scout knives from the 1940s.

I'll second the Rough Rider. I have several of them, and they are very good knives, and look like they cost a lot more than they do.

I'll join the Rough Rider recommenders. Very solid knife (a tank, actually). Can't beat the price. No saw though, and the "old-fashioned" can opener takes some getting used to.

The "Rough Rider Review" site Jordan posted is one that I've consulted frequently. I've always found it to be accurate and helpful, too.
