Stream of consciousness surfing led me to a 'tube video where Jason Statham does a lot fancy footwork in some very nice shoes.

I've worn some of those very nice shoes, and they are no damn good at all for running, martial arts, or anything else except being some nice pieces of leather to cover my ugly feet.

I consider my footwear part of my EDC gear, and it has to be capable of more than just looking pretty beneath my pant legs.

Can anybody here recommend a pair of shoes or boots that will let me pass with the suit and tie crowd, without compromising my ability to bug out if I need to?

A nice pair of subtle cowboy boots, plain or round toe with a walkin heel , Justin of Tony Llama.

It depends on how much you want to spend, but many companies (esp. Alden, Allen Edmonds, Tricker's, etc.) offer several of their dress/casual styles with Vibram or Dainite soles. If something like this is still not rugged enough then maybe try something like the Beckman dress chukkas or oxfords from Red Wing? Of course these options are probably going to run you about $250 and up but they can usually be re-soled or refurbished as necessary and, with a little care, will offer you many years of comfortable service.

I am quite fond of Merrell shoes. They have a wide variety of styles.

Merrell does make a super comfy shoe, and they have antimicrobial/bacterial insoles that keep your dogs from barking after a long day of bugging out.
Clarks are comfortable shoes as well, they are built really well and are durable. I own a couple pair of Kenneth Cole Reaction shoes, and again, they are very comfortable dress shoes.

It boils down to how athletic or nimble you are on your feet. If you are going to be doing some Kung Fu in a warehouse surrounded by a dozen bad guys, while using a firehose, extinguisher, and other random objects to deliver justice, any shoe can do in a pinch. ;)

Wow! Hell yeah to Corcoran!

I'll look at what everybody has posted, but Nick's jump boots are the early favorite.

Thanks, guys.
