Today I had my Father's Day private knife show. I made up a good size batch the last two weeks, because I have been pretty well depleted since last fall.
I made up 40 oyster knives, 15 bait knives (small fishing knives), a dozen fillet knives, and something new - Bottle openers and ice cream scoops. The six hour show went well, and I sold 15 items. Here are a few shots of some of the stuff, and a close up of some wicked spalted maple.

Hey Stacy that's looks like a lot of work sitting on that table right there.... Great stuff. The scoop hardware looks similar to the ones at wood craft (I dig (pun intended) the pointy design on the end).... and I really like the bottle openers too. Where can I get some? -Larry

Yes. I got them from Woodcraft.....well engineered units. The sharp point really digs into hard frozen ice cream. The bottle openers are from another supplier, but now Woodcraft is carrying them, too.

I could sell the blocks of stabilized wood that I turn for these for $40 each easily ( and do at the Harrisonburg show), but I enjoy turning them.
Same goes with the oyster knives, The steel is almost nothing, but a $30-40 block of wood plus the materials and labor time to make them makes a $30 price tag for the knife seem senseless....but I enjoy making them and the customers enjoy using them.

Stacy, it appears you have some kitchen cutlery there on that table hiding in the case. Can we get some pictures of those blades?

Thanks,

Pete

First photo, across from the oyster knives ( in sheaths) Third photo, there are three without sheaths next to the ice cream scoops .
