After reading many posts and watching lots of youtube videos on the lack of a factory sharp edge with the 16, I was very pleasantly surprised when mine arrive this week shaving sharp right out of the box. Someone must have been listening.

Great balance, great ergonomics, good sheath for woods work, but will be getting a kydex for EDC.

Thanks Ethan and KA-BAR!

Every knife (5 at last count this year) that I have purchased from kabar have been wicked sharp out of the box. That being said I kinda like to sharpen a knife when I first get it to tailor the edge to my preferences.

All the Beckers I have/had were razor sharp out of the box.

Neither my 9 nor my 16 were what I would consider "razor sharp" out of the box...but they were sharp enough; certainly useful, if a little toothy. I don't think it matters that much, in the end. You use it, you're gonna have to sharpen it. Putting a keen(er) edge or stropping or doing whatever makes your knife your knife is part of the fun, IMO, whether it's the first thing you do or comes down the road a little bit, after you've etched it, stripped it or reprofiled the edge. Or not. I'm glad that you're impressed with your new blade, RJ. Take that factory edge and do some fun stuff with it, then report back. Welcome to the BK&T forum. Hope you like it here.

Welcome to the forum and enjoy the 16. The grind on mine was slightly uneven at the tip of the blade, but that was soon taken care of. No problems now. And my 9 came razor sharp too, that, my 2 and 10 were the sharpest right outta the box.

+1 on SS. If you want to go the extra mile, put a little blue lok-tite on the threads. It'll be all yours and like no other once you get out and put some beauty marks on it.
Congrats on the 2 & welcome to the Becker wing of the knife knut asylum. :D
