Richard sent me this knife a while back to test drive for a while. I've been using mostly as a general purpose knife around the house and outside. Like a lot of Richard's knives...this one is chisel ground with single convex bevel. Make no mistake...this knife came sharp...stupid sharp. This knife is not a chopper. It is thin and excels at slicing. I'm not sure of the blade steel....10XX carbon (Richard?) and the handle is stacked leather. About the handle...it's big and blocky and this was deliberate. I believe Richard is going to sell this knife and wanted to do the final handle shaping based on the new owner's preferences. The guard is brass and the lanyard bail is attached via the bolt at the butt. Overall, I have no complaints about this knife. The only issue I had was using it in the kitchen as the guard got in the way sometimes but it wasn't built to be a kitchen knife so no big deal. One thing I really like about this knife is how easily it can disassembled. All you need is a wrench and the knife is apart in less than 10 seconds. Here are some pics. The guard looks banged up but it isn't...just a little tarnished.

OAL is 11 inches
Blade Length is 6.5 inches

After using this knife frequently for a few weeks now, I used it to slice up some strawberries for my daughter this morning.

Nice job on this one Richard and thanks for letting me try it out for a while.

:thumbup:Nice knife Jason & Richard.I believe Richard works exclusively with 1075 steel, unless he's changed it recently. It's good tuff stuff & takes one heck of an edge.

the steel is 1075 which is all i have ever used to make my knives. i'm going to make a new nut with a carbide insert for a glass breaker. the knife is just under a pound in weight. that is the first stacked leather handle knife i made and i plan on making a few more one of these days.

hey, I like that, great shape with nice looking, full handle. i'll be keeping an eye out for these. Any plans on making V grind, or convex?
thanks,
k

i do make convex grinds every now and then but i think my chisel grind half convex edges are a lot sharper but not by much since both of my convex or chisel grind knives are usually freaky-scary sharp.
