Looks like you all had a lot of fun! Hmmm....maybe she'll name a special offer after my visit too?! What an honor.

Man, that is a hell of a deal for a HI Spear Vala! I gotta go check my piggy bank!

Wow - great deals! If I hadn't already received three knives in the last couple weeks I would be all over these!

I just had to:

EMS 16 3/4'' 27 ounce HI Spear Vala by Lachhu. Satisal wood handle. Leather sheath. Bookie Reno visit special at $125.

I know, I'm weak....HIKV got me....

Great job, for that price how could you resist a Spear Vala?? That Tin Chirra is a bargain as well but, I think you got the bargain of the year!

Bawanna, I hope it looks half as good in my hands as it does in yours. It seems like it was made especially for you and your persona.

Thanks

I know, I couldn't believe it, I just had to do it.

BB you better check that one over real well when you get it. I don't see Bawanna's drool cup any were in the picture by so it might be a touch soggy when you get it ;)

Looks like everyone had a great time and Cul gets in on the fun with a great looking Vala too.

That there is an oxymoron! No such thing as a weak man with a Spear Vala! Great snag R!

That blade looks good on you Mr. B! Glad you had a great time with the doctor and all of Pala's family and friends! Wish I couldda been there. I can still see that Rajkumar fighting sword sticking out of that giant chicken! That was a cool chicken but looks pretty dang good on you too  Not saying that you look like a chicken understand;)

That fighting sword feels far beyond awesome in hand. Both Bookie and I both did a double take as soon as we held it. The weight/balance, handle. A true masterpiece. Edit to add, I just now realized it was a Rajkumar knife. How incredibly awesome is that? Would have been much harder to put that one back in the pile had that computed in my small mind.
Auntie was very hesitant to even let us near the BB pile which was already quite substantial AGAIN. She said this is the third pile.
And there's some damn nice stuff there too.

I got a few other pictures I'll add to this thread. Right now I'm suffering from motion sickness. Got in the van at 6:15 this morning and wheels never touched the ground again till I got home at 8pm straight up.

Had a little friendly chat with a California Highway Patrol who claimed I was doing 90 in a 65. Told him I didn't know the old van would go that fast. My law enforcement memorial plate saved me. He asked if I was LE and told him I was an office puke. He nearly wrote me anyhow but he ended up relenting and letting us go. That would have been a bad ticket for sure.

I sure didn't think I was going that fast which he agreed. Said I didn't slow down when I saw him which meant to him I didn't know.

OH well, got lucky.

Pictures soon.

I'm so anxious to share some pics.
Here's a little teaser.

Pala, Bookie and I each holding one of BB's Liberty Series knives. I'm the shorter fella sitting down.

BB, the value of that Liberty knife Pala is holding just increased in value 10 fold minimum. I wasn't thinking I should have took pictures of him holding the others. Save this photo for provenance. Famous Kami / Sherpa holding your knife!!!

Incidentally these knives are awesome. Great design by Howard Wallace and well crafted by the kami's.
I couldn't make up my mind which I liked best from pictures, and holding them, if I could only have one I'd still have a hard time.

The short thicker one sang to me, the longer slimmer one sang to me, they all sang to me. BB solved it and got all 3.
More of these in the works one day.

BB, we were extremely careful. Auntie was very watchful. While I didn't display my drool cup in the photo's it was only very briefly I went without. None of your knives were harmed in the making of these photo's.
There's wheelchair skid marks on the floor where Yangdu drug me away from your pile.
Course she had a fine pile of show and tell of her own.

Here's a shot of Auntie going after Bookie when he tried to sneak back to BB's pile.

Here's a shot of Auntie drawing a Magnum AK. Thing is near big as she is.

And me holding it.

Ok enough for now. More later. I'm sure Bookie has a bunch as well. Him and his wife depart at O dark thirty tomorrow morning heading back to Corn Patch via fixed wing aircraft. He mentioned he hates flying when someone else is driving.

I love your pictures and tutorial Mr. B!! I could not be happier both you and Bookie got to check them out!! I will cherish your story and photo essay indefinitely. I imagined Auntie to be quite tenacious. However, after viewing the picture of her guarding the pile there is no doubt the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. She might be a half pint but it appears Goliath would certainly be the under dog! Gotta love her. I hope to meet her someday personally as well. I'm sincerely greatful both you and Bookie placed your seal of approval on them. Plus, you're correct, Pala in the mix makes them dear to my heart. I'm most pleased you both lifted his spirits as I know he's worried about health issues. That means more to me than anything else. Bless you both and Yangdu the warrior Princess., the little sister I always wished i had but never did until now.

Great Pics Mr. B.! My daughter spied me looking at my BF feed, and she asks me, "Daddy, that's auntie, but who's the other ones in the pics, they're like you, "old guys". Haha, damn near floored me. I guess she thinks I'm a "old Man", granted today is my birthday, but dang, these kids sure have no filters in their heads yet. I told her, "Those guys are not "old", they have more wisdom and skills in their pinky, than daddy has in his whole body, so watch what you say". Smart Alec kid., gets it from me I guess, my filter breaks down too, every once in awhile, so says the wife.

Yea, my birthday gift is getting to go up and see auntie this year. Pretty cool, since I really don't need anything, amazing how as one gets older, we need less and less material things? Well, more steel, and sharp pointy things are always needed...:D

Morning all. The world seems to have stopped moving when I'm sitting still finally. Nice sunny day here in the NW and not nearly as warm as Reno. It was actually quite pleasant this year. Plenty warm of course but not stifling. 3 nights of excellent Rodeo. Nobody hurt and a good show.

Cul, if your Spear Vala is close to the one Bookie is holding, I can assure you, you will be delighted. This one seemed lighter than the ones I've held in the past and felt really good in hand. It's another one of those that I held a couple years back and while I liked it, it wasn't a must have.

Now it is for sure a must have. Very cool and nice knife. You'll be grinning ear to ear when you get your hands on it.

A little bit about our man Bookie. This fella is the genuine real deal. No smoke and mirrors or the tiniest bit of BS about him.
The talent and knowledge of this man never failed to amaze me before and in the very short time I got to hang out with him, I'm even more amazed. He brought me a really nice blade blank for me to try working on myself. I'll get to grind the edge, square now and shape some and do all the finish and tempering etc. I'll be draining his brain a LOT. I'm anxious to get going on it.

Here's a pic which I thought would be worth something since I thought he was holding hands with Pemba. (Great guy Pemba, like him very much). But Bookie was actually reading his palm. And I kid you not he was asking them if certain things had happened in the past and was nailing it every time. I never held much credence with palm reading and such but I'm having serious second thoughts.

Reading Auntie's palm well after dark.

Here's a shot of my wife holding a short sword which was quite light and delightful. I always blank out when I get there, can't remember the models, or kami names or anything. Forget what this one was called (sensory overload).

Kami Sherpa Pala standing in his little shop. We talked about upgrading grinding wheels and how he used to swing a 14# hammer with ease. I have no doubt he'd whip us all arm wrestling. Very kind and gracious man. I'm so honored that I was able to meet him in person.

A little sign that Kami Sherpa drew hanging on wall of garage.
It was kind of frustrating but comical as all three of us, Pala, Bookie and myself are extremely hard of hearing. Pala of course and the others speak broken english but perfectly good enough for a hearing person to understand. But add in the hearing loss and it was challenging and frustrating. I so much want to hear what Auntie and all of them say. My wife did a good job of interpreting but she hung out with the girls which kind of left me fending for myself. I did actually communicate with kami sherpa a bit and that felt really good.

My girls Yangdu, Chokpa, and Kanchhi. I actually got Chokpa to sit down this time. Usually they run around like servants and I so wish I had legs so I could wait on them for awhile. No doubt of the Kami Sherpa's being the patriarch of the family. Very much respect and admiration for him.

I'll drift awhile. I'm so excited to share everything with everybody. I'll be back.

Pics look super! I so wish we were able to make it up with you guys, but alas, the schedules just didn't quite line up right. Next time though. I do believe the spear vala will be the one that Bookie is holding, I haven't got a DD yet, so here's to hoping! You two must've tuckered her all out....lol The spear vala did look lighter, and you know me, lighter is better, so I had to go for it. We'll see what happens.

I am glad you all had a great time, and I love that pic with auntie keeping Bookie at bay with BB's sword..., awesome indeed.

Can't wait to meet Pala, and of course, the rest of the family and friends.

Somehow when I logged in this morning I missed these earlier post. Happy Birthday Cul.

Young people see things the way they are and often times say what they think. It's only later in life they get all PC and are careful what they say. I never grew up hence my fingers often times typing things they really shouldn't.

Your daughter is correct, those are some old guys in that picture. I didn't even realize it until I looked again myself.
Of course Kami Sherpa asked my age and laughed at how I was a young kid. I was envious of how much hair he had compared to myself and told him so.
