Took a walk out on the beach to make sure we weren't flooded. Water passed the cottage sometime in the last 8 hours or so, but no damage. Took the RC5 along to play with some driftwood. It popped most pieces right open. I thought this knife was way too huge when I got it. I'm getting to like it quite well in hand and on belt.

Lake Erie! I havent seen that in a while I moved to MS about a year and a half ago ah I wont be missing that weather any time soon. But I do miss the Steelhead fishing ;)

Ah yes, the club. Nothing better than sitting around there listening to Valby sing his eloquent lulabys :). Grew up hanging out at that beach. Only place it can be 95 degrees, and the water have icebergs in it. Might have to do a rat pack BBQ/ wing fry out there next summer. And there's even some sterogen to get too now. By accident.

Whoa, talk about a cannon from Canon! That's a nice lens; unfortunately not in my budget for the foreseeable future. A lens that fast and sharp must give nice bright viewfinder images as well as great pictures. So, two great tools in one photo, one from Canon and one from RAT.

Okay, I have to ask the obvious - who took the pictures with you in them? Was there another camera on a tripod, or a friend/better half?

I noticed the knife sheath started on your right side, then moved to your left. Are you right handed, and it got in the way? Just curious.

Anyway, thanks for the pictures.

Yea, Righty, started out on the right. Was having issues banging the camera on the single point, so I swapped it to cross draw. I love that clip. Also hadda swap jackets. Right down by the water there was so much spray it may as well been raining.

Second camera was my mother with a 300d, and 28-90mm. She didn't have a hood on her lens, so the spray was pretty rough. Had halos on the white jacket. Tossed them in lightroom, pushed the contrast and blacks up to cover the halo, then adjusted exposure to look daylight again. Quick dirty and messy, but at least it doesn't have that glamourshot effect anymore.

If you're looking for fast and sharp in a low-cost lens, checkout the Canon 50mm f/1.8 It's slow to focus, but the results and abilities are excellent. I've had countless nights of fun with that lens on my old rebel. It only costs between $60 and $75 depending on where you go. Some times I even prefer it's 5 bladed bokeh to the the smoother 8 bladed in the 50mm 1.4 lens. (less blades, less points coming off lights in time lapse shots.) and above about f/2 the lenses are identically sharp, with the 1.8 actually dipping sharper around f/8

Some would argue that there is a third tool in there, myself.
