Gardening in the back yard this weekend, finally managed to break a knife. Was using it as a shovel.

Now, this was bought about 10 years ago, in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Cost two pesos (less than $2). Not bad for a nameless stainless cheapie. To be honest, I am surprised it lasted this long... :D

I have some old cheap beater knives, too. They do seem to hold up.
You should have left the blade bent like that. Then you could use it for stabbing people around a corner.

Some of the 440A ones are really solid, a bit soft so the edge needs to be filed fairly often, but often the handles goes as they are pined on really weak. I had used two large stainless bolos that had near indestructible blades, but the handles both went on chopping readily.

Good riddance, I guess. Although that looked like a pretty handy bottle opener on the spine. Where it mine (and I didn't already have a fixed blade with bottle opening function) I probably would have broken the blade in half and filed it down to some sort of spade a long time ago. try to save the bottle opener.
Who am I kidding? I would have just thrown it until it broke.
But still, a great buy for 2 pesos.

Look at it this way; If you sharpen what's left of the blade, it'll still be long-enough to stab someone who is REALLY thin.:D.

If you sharpen up what's left of the blade you can open boxes without worrying so much about cutting too deeply and damaging the contents.

...or maybe use it for "Kalifornia carry"?!?!

Good idea -- or you could grind it all the way down to the handle and then you could carry it in Britain without needing to have a "good reason" to tell the police....

As pathetic as this is, you would still get done for carrying the handle which would be considered an offensive weapon.

Off topic - Vess your wevsite looks real nice. Nice and easy to navigate and some good illustrations there too. Haven't clicked on that link for a while so it was nice to see some 'pimpin' leather!

If arrested for vagrancy and you can still kill the sheriff and maim his deputees. Its days of boar-hunting are over though, I'm afraid.
