I picked up this large Classic micarta from the Exchange a few days ago. It is the nicest CRK I've bought yet, almost flawless. Even the mark from the pocket clip was pretty light. I always replace those with an insert. Now that I have both large and small Classics, I can say that I prefer them in both sizes to the 21. It's not a huge difference but the Classics have what I consider small refinements that I prefer.

My first Reeve is coming soon - a 21. What are the small refinements that set the Classic apart?

On the Classic:
  • The female handle hardware has solid, polished heads instead of a hex cut out (which I never use)
  • The handle edges have a double bevel
  • The handle point does not protude into the blade's primary grind bevel when open
  • The bevel on the cut out to access the lock bar and thumb stub is a little wider
  • I like the "Classic MM" stamp

All of this is purely cosmetic. Functionally, either will serve you well.

I think I highlight a few differences in this video: Sebenza Maintenance

Maybe in this one too but I can't remember: CRK Overview
I will try to do a comparison video soon.

Nice pair of Classics you have photoman, congratulations !!!!!!

Thanks for the description. Beautiful knives ya got there.

I always loved the Classic MM engraving on the Sebenza. Plus, it had S30V which I have always loved as well. I was looking at that one, but did not jump on it as I promised no more CRK this year..... though that is a tough bill to follow....lol

I made a video to show the differences between the Classic & 21:

You did get a good deal on it. I greatly prefer double studs on these knives. I'm planning to send a few that I carry to CRK to have them installed.

Photoman, Thanks for the video's I did turn the hardware around as you showed and I really like the look better.
