I am trying to find some information on this grinder. I know it is a double hollow grinder but I can't find any information about this Nicholas brand. Anyone here ever heard of them?

Ok that is a hell of a picture! The building, the windows, and those machines. You have some history there.

That looks like a fun restoration project, but my worry would be that it is underpowered for knifemaking. ;)

Those wouldn't happen to be in Ellicotville, NY, would they?

So most likely, the cutting wheels are counter-rotating? one clockwise and one counterclockwise correct? These machines are very similar to the ones I saw long long ago as the Case knife Factory was closing. There's plenty of Machinery out there like this that was built for highly specific uses on a one-off basis by various companies. We may never find anything out about these machines!

i just copied the tittle and had Google search..
interesting machine ,get it /restore it /lots of people want to "Mass Produce" knives today
you might become the guy they all look for ....good luck on it .

I think they are meant for grinding straight razors.

You can see here the fixture and template for the grinding path. While it's certainly capable of a straight razor looks like it's currently set up for a 5-6" clip point Buck like hunting knife. It's obvious that pin follows the template via spring pressure as the arm is indexed in and out of the machine.

you are the man when it comes to machinery. On a side note, this post is straight up porn to knife makers who happen to be old machine enthusiasts. Wheres @Geoff Flato ?
