Nicholson Black Diamond File Steel -- Does Anyone Know What Steel They Use/d?

So I have done a lot of digging though the internet and cannot find out for sure what Nicholson, particularly Black Diamond used. A lot of speculators say "maybe w-1 or w-2", still others say 1095, but I highly doubt that--they are way too hard, and some people even claim to know that the files test out at 1.25 C, greater than ANY 1095. Still others speculate it is a proprietary steel, something like a modified w-1/w-2 (where I'm leaning).

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone knew for sure, or if anyone had anything new and relevant to add.

I ask because I have ground many, MANY knives out of files and particularly like Nicholson Black Diamond for numerous reasons--and was thinking of selling them, but I want to know the steel for sure before I try to sell them. I mean, I can tell it's quality, and can tell person what to do and what not to do, but it's just not cool when knife makers do not include steel type in the specs.

Nicholson used to be the standard . Now they are may in Mexico or Brazil.Forget it , stick to the standard grades.

Mete, I think you missed the main question. Vintage is assumed. Plus if my finished product isn't awesome I chunk it. Though I would value some in put on when/how their processes changed.
