i know that nicholson mill files are great just wondering the advantages of the long angle lathe files ? and if anyone here uses them?

I use them on lathes to clean up rough cuts almost every day. I also use them to draw file on rifle barrels and once in a while I straighten out a grind on a knife -- I find I can make a very smooth finish with them.

Long Angle Lathe Files are single cut with safe uncut edges. The teeth are on a long angle so that they will readily clear themselves when the file is used at right angles to the lathe work.

You can use a regular single cut file on your lathe, but you have to hold the file at an angle to the workpiece. Also good for bench filing of non-ferrous metals.

I use the long angle lathe bastards to cut the shoulders on my hidden tang knives. The safe edges slide along the guide clamp and produce a very clean cut. I buy them in 14" leangths. Fred
