Here's a classic-looking Nick Wheeler fighter that has found a happy home at my place. Blade length is approx 7", and over-all length 12 1/4". Handle is walnut burl, blade steel is 1084.
This knife features a pronounced hamon, which for some reason proved very difficult to capture in a photograph. The line itself can, depending on the light and viewing angle, look smokey grey or frosty silver-white. The area below the line (cutting edge) appears mirror-polished, while the area above is a softer, more subdued satin-like finish. This blade has more going on visually than any other non-damascus forged knife that I've ever owned.
The copper spacers are an elegant touch and fit seamlesly with the guard. Overall fit and finish are beyond reproach. Very, very clean work.
Mr. Wheeler, you make a mighty fine knife.
Cheers,
Roger
