Nicked blade/sharpening/steeling questions

Hey guys, I just got my first Busse :D :thumbup: . Its a black canvas game warden, I like the size for the most part, carries well in the pocket. But my issue is I've hardly had a chance to use it and already I notice a small nick in the edge, granted its very small, but completely unexpected as I haven't even had the chance to test it on anything hard or even take it outside. So my questions are is this normal? And what do you guys recommend to steel and/or sharpen. I'm looking for something small and light, easy to carry. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!
 
The small nick probably came from accidently coming into contact with something very hard. There is no need to worry about the performance of INFI. It has a proven track record with countless testimonials of its performance.

I would first attempt to steel out the ding followed by a good stropping. If that doesn't work out then you can always just sharpen it out.
 
Thanks, I had figured as much, but its good to know I shouldn't be concerned. Anyone have any recommendations on a small/light steel?
 
Has anyone else had this occur? I'm still slightly concerned because I've never had this happen to any of my other blades that have seen much harder use. I thought infi was supposed to be difficult to chip and I know I didn't hit anything very hard. :confused:
 
fenrir, there's a good chance that the steel hasn't chipped, but that it's simply been pushed in. INFI has a much higher degree of plasticity than other steels. try to find a smooth steel and realign the edge before you try to sharpen it.
 
Well, Infi is great. If you are worried or dont want to try and fix it your self, call the shop and they will make it all good.
 
Thanks. That clears things up a bit, I'll have to procure a steel and then see, its supposed to be a working knife anyways so I'm not that concerned about small things if they can be easily fixed I was just worried it didn't bode well for future use.
