I have built a nickel plating bath for plating steel for Damascus and it is working quite well (I haven’t used it as yet for I am working away from home but my son is using it with great success) now I want to work towards a tumbler for plating small items like bearing balls etc. Is there anybody that have done that or an idea where to start and how it would work.

Thanks “ VAN”

are you plating finished blades??? or components of your billet before the initial weld thus trying to lend some nickel "lines" to your finished pattern? And as for the tumbler question; are you speaking of useing it on these "parts" before the nickel plate or after? I have two tumbler/vibrator systems. First I would say decide what your finished outcome/product is to be like and work backwards.

regards, mitch

Hi Mitch,
Thanks for responding, yes the idea of nickel plating is for the pieces that i make the billet with to get some contrasting lines, as for the tumbler it is to plate small items. What looks great is if you plate small bearing balls and then put it in n pipe weld it close and hammer it flat for n billet looks like honey comb or dragon skin. the idea is to get the small parts evenly plated all around.

thx "VAN"
