Nickel Silver turning gold?

I've got a Fallkniven F1-GM with the nice micarta scales and nickel silver (?) guard and pins. I noticed the other day that the pins and guard have a light gold patina to them. I store the knife in the provided leather sheath.

Just wondering what the story is with this, though I'm not particularly concerned about cosmetics as this is a user.
 
I've got a flashlight made from Nickel Silver and it does tend to turn slightly gold after a few weeks of use. I would guess that it is tarnish from the air or the oils from my skin. It comes off with regular silver polish.

Wouldn't expect it to have any effect on the knife, so just a cosmetic issue at this point, I kind of like the way it looks on the flashlight.
