I remember Paul posting an incredible (as always) sheath a while back with nicotine elephant inlay. Thought I'd share what I did with some of the same hide this weekend. It's really interesting stuff and I have a feeling it'll wear tough as nails.

That is some nice work. Could that be a Wilson 1911?

It's got Wilson grips. Could have been worked on by Wilson or actually one if their own 1911. Either way that holster is of the same quality as Wilson guns. Has a clean ruggedness to it, looks good.

Chad, that is a great holster. That Nicotine Elephant just adds another level.

Thank you! Good eye! It certainly is. A Bill Wilson Carry CQB to be exact. 4" (commander) barrel on an officer frame. Have around 1500-2K rounds through it now and never a hiccup. Also have a CQB in stainless that's my safe queen. Only 150 or so rounds through it. Photos below.

Thank you! Yeah it's a full Wilson made 1911. I posted a reply with a couple photos.

Thank you Paul! Always appreciate the kind words! Yeah that Elephant is some awesome stuff. Our mutual friend sells it at the most reasonable price I've come across too.

Wow!! That is simply amazing looking. I've never worked with any "exotics". Now I really want to. What a beauty.

Thank you! Really appreciate the kind words! Depending on what you do with it, exotics will give you a whole new set of challenges. One of the big ones is edges. Since they're chrome tanned (for the most part), edge burnishing is difficult. I've been working with exotics most of my leather career (which only spans a little over two years now) so I've learned a few tricks. One of the other challenges with exotics is some come with what I call hairy backsides. The worst seems to be Ostrich. If a person doesn't get that "hair" off and is laminating to veg tan (which I almost always am), the two pieces do not stick together properly. It can be a real pain if you don't clean it up well enough prior to gluing. Stitching is can be more challenging depending on the hide... the list goes on and on. Although, once you get it figured out, it's very rewarding and the looks are hard to beat.
