I am planning on getting a set of night sights for my father for Christmas for his Glock 23. Does anyone know of a good place to order? I want to be sure to get fresh ones. Scared ebay and other sites I am unsure of may have stock that has been sitting for years.
Thanks

I use Meprolights on my G17. They are super bright! Such an upgrade over the plastic u-shaped things that Glock considers sights...

Meprolights, Ameriglow, and XS sights have all been good and long lasting for me. Brownells or Midway or direct from XS to order.

Being an unstable isotope with a half-life of 12.32 years, tritium loses half its brightness in that period. The more tritium that is initially placed in the tube, the brighter it is to begin with, and the longer its useful life will be.

I thought it was longer, but it's only 12 years.

Yeah should useful out to 25 years but I had a 20 year old Military issue watch that did not glow at all after 20. No telling how old the tritium was before it was installed in the watch though. The sights on my G23 were made in 2010 and are still going strong.

I just handled a G17 I installed a front sight on no later than 1996, it still glows but not usefully so. My issue G22 has just had the front replaced (we only do the front sight, and use standard Glock steel rear sights) but I don't know how long the original was on it, possibly from new @1996.

Trijicon stuff should have a date on the packaging you could ask for a pic of from the seller, don't know about the other brands.

There is a company that makes a 2 part mix with glow powder and epoxy that holds up pretty well, the drawback of course is that you have to charge it with a light source. I have used it on a few older ak sights that had glow in the dark paint originally and put it on thick. Holds up well.

I put meprolights on my G 17. When I key in my code for my drop safe, it open with a light on so I can see what
I'm grabbing. That quick exposure to light is enough for you to see them in the dark. I think that's pretty good.
Haven't tried other sights, can only speak for these.

I have used the x10 glow powder from glow inc mixed with 5 ton epoxy. Works very well if charged but most of the time you want it to glow it is not charged.
