I, among others here am a Nighthawk fan. I believe they have a great bladeshape and provide great value.

I understand that the Nighthawk was submitted to the Navy for trials as a SEAL knife. From what I have read and heard, it was not selected due to its lack of serrated psine and lanyard hole. Both of these items make perfect sense to me for riverine and other waterborne ops.

Here's my question: Were these specifications made known to potential vendors prior to the trials? Was there ever a report available on the Navy's findings of the knives submitted.

Though I wish there was a model available with ATS-34/CPM-154 or BG-42, I really find this knife hard to beat in design, shape, and value.

Now, about those serrations and a lanyard hole?

John,
There was a thread, many moons ago, which touched on the nighthawk history and steels. There are apparently some of the 154CM prototypes used for the testing laying about at Buck:eek: ... Despite heartfelt begging, etc, Joe has yet to sell me one:(
It's definitely a nice knife.

Interesting reading. I would jump on an ATS-34 Nighthawk!

Joe,

See if you can find out what the minimum number of pieces is that would be required for a run of Nighthawks in ATS-34. Please also let me know the approximate cost.

If the numbers make sense, I would seriously consider meaningful participation in such a project with a portion of proceeds going to an appropriate cause.

We (you) have the technology; now it's just a question of time and money. Please let me know.
