Looking through the 1997 Buck catalog they introduce the Nighthawk 655BX which has the standard profile Nighthawk blade but with serrations the entire length of the cutting edge. The write up refers to it as fully serrated. In the 1998 catalog it again lists the 655BX as a fully serrated blade however, the photograph shows the serrations only covering about 50%-60% of the blade from the hilt forward. To my mind the 1998 blade would be a partially not fully serrated blade. Where these just mix-ups in the catalog descriptions, the photos used or did Buck make a different knife in 1997 then they did in 1998?
I've not done an extensive search yet, but so far everything I've found shows a partially serrated blade, regardless of the description and I've not found any 655 with serrations the entire length of the blade. Just wondering if there is a one year only Nighthawk I need to be looking for to add to the collection?
P.S. Don't know how many others are into this series of blades but I've come to regard the Buck Nighthawk as a real sleeper. They don't seem to get the attention they deserve based on the construction and ergonomics. I'm not particularly enamored with the newer TOPS collaboration with the holes in the blade or the model with the flat/blunt tip but these older ones, (I've got a 94, 95 and 2008) are really great knives that I suspect some folks never consider due to their looks.
