Greetings everyone! I'm new to this particular forum, though I've owned several Bucks since the beginning of time (the 110 and 119).

I just ordered my first Nighthawk. However, I'm confused about the tang. One knife knut I talked to said the tang is quite short, and the blade is connected to the handle with glue (yipes!). Another knut said the blade goes all the way to the end of the handle. Who's right?

And, one of these guys said you take take apart the handle on the Nighthawk. Can it be done without difficulty or damage to the knife?

Also, if anyone wants to give me a review and tell me how the Nighthawk has served them, I'm all ears while waiting for mine to arrive.

The Nighthawk is a fine knife for the price and will serve you well. I once remember seeing an X-Ray of a Nighthawk handle and IIRC the tang is pretty much full. A serach may reveal this X-Ray. There are those, including moiwho would like to see the Nighthawk come out in a premium steel but we keep getting rebuffed. It's a great knife!

Happy Hunting!

Yep, the Nighthawk is a really good knife. And no, you cannot take the handle apart because it is hermetically sealed around the (full) tang to prevent moisture from getting in.

Oh, I should have added that I ordered the 11-inch clip point model with black-oxide finish. Is that one still being manufactured? I heard all the other Nighthawks are no longer in production.

To my knowledge the 6+" Nighthawk is still available. The tang is through to the end. It's a good design, sturdy and dependable, tough. The handle is a little large, good with light gloves or without. More tactical looking than a BK7 for example, but very useful. It is not much of a chopper. The sheath isn't great. I traded one away, but then had to buy another.
