Nighthawk re-handled?

No, as it would be very difficult to do . Now should you want to rehandle it ---its not so difficult . DM

Has anyone actually wore out the grip on their Nighthawk and had to re-handle it?

Doc, David, it is no problem to rehandle the Nighthawk. The "rubber" is easily
cut off with a draw knife and then you can do what you want.

The tang has two holes you can use for rivets - if you like. I made a handle
with a stick tang (is that the correct word?)

I drilled a hole in a piece of plumwood, honed it, that the hole fits to the
tang, filed a square hole in a piece of mammoth ivory, tins of nickel silver,
two pieces of red paper fiber and a piece of buffalo horn.

Than I glued all together, ground and filed off what doesn't fit to a knife
handle, varnished and polished it, and ready was the Haebbie NIghthawk.

To your success!

Best,
Haebbie

Haebbie, that's gorgeous.
I have an older Spanish bowie my brother gave me when I was 10 that the antler has fallen off of, I may give something like this a try; thanks for the inspiration.

Been really looking at the pics Haebbie, how did you get the tin and red spacers with such a smooth concave? I love it, so you've got color and some texture.

Thank you, guys, for your kind comments. It is nice to read that you like this Haebbie/Buck Nighthawk.
The knife copies the scandianvian style and I like the symmetry from edge and back of the handle.

russde, the concaves are filed with a small key file. everything is handmade.

Best,

WOW! That's a real art knife... do you actually carry it? Do you take on paid custom work???

Thank you all :) :) :) !!

Doc, no, I don't carry it. I have another fixed for hiking. But I think it would be a good user.

from time to time I do a friend a favor and make a knife. Or I use the handmades as a gift.
The last knife I made for a friend was a small kitchen knife with a damas blade. Does
anybody need a Haebbie/Nighthawk ;) :) ?

Best, Haebbie
