I wondered if long term users of the nighthawk could tell me if they had any problems with moisture penetration of the handle long term.

This seems to be an under-rated knife, quite frankly. People that have it love it, and can't believe it doesn't get more love. Maybe if it was more expensive people would go for it. I'd love to have one, it looks like a keeper to me. One day!

Robert? What is a long term user for you? I never had problems with the handles.
I think they are waterproof. The Kraton handles of the 600 mate series are not as
durable as the nighthawk handles are. Hardly used Kraton handles are becoming
weak and muddy. The Nighthawk has a rubberized Nylon handles.

I own 4 Nighthawks but they are not users to me. I know Haebbie has removed the handle off at least one so he would know.

There was a discussion at the BF what a full tang is.
The sparks really flew in the debate. So I'm not able
to give you an answer without to reopen old sores.
But have a look and decide by yourself what kind of
tang the Nighthawk has ;)

I just wondered if through water penetration the tang started to corrode and split the handle material as on other brands I've read about.I also thought that the rubberized part was Alcryn rubber a more durable material. Thanks for your input.

I just got one so I'm not a long term user, nor has the knife became a user yet. My thoughts on it though are that most users won't have the problem. I would imagine it would take at least saltwater to start an issue. If I didn't already have a handfull of dive knives and a particular favorite which has a strikingly similar handle (which is probably partly what drew me to the 650) I would get one as a dive knife.
