Nightmare grind

What's the point (no pun)? Anybody have a nightmare grind on a blade (strider)?
Looks cool..but is it functional?

I have similar grinds on certain knives where you want a thinner blade for easier cutting/slicing but still keep a reinforced point and thicker spine. Would be useful for wood working chores like cutting notches and splitting branches.

the way ive always thought about it is its like having a traditional multi blade slipjoint in one blade, different sections for different jobs
