Nihonto on Gunto mounts? Can anyone lend their advice?

Hi there,
This is my first posting, and it is about a sword I recently acquired. I will refrain from using the correct terminologies, as I am an extreme novice, and don't want to come off as a person in "the know".
The sword appears to be an old family blade bearing the name Fujiwara Kunishige inscribed on the tang. It is mounted on what appear to be WWII officer's gunto mounts. The wrapping of the handle is missing, revealing the ray skin cover. The butt of the handle has been fitted with the family crest of the Naito clan. These were things I was able to figure out with the help of my wife, and a gentleman in Japan.
Can anyone confirm or disprove my beliefs?

Thank you,
Ricky
