Hey gang, I have a question about some Nikon scopes and was hoping some folks here had some advice/suggestions for whitetail deer.
Last year I used a Nikon Buckmaster 3-9x40 on my Remington 700 .270. It is a good scope but I had some issues with it fogging/becoming hazy in any non full light conditions so I am going to send it in to be looked at. Once it is checked out/repaired it will be going on my 700 in .243 and I will be getting a new scope for the .270 around July/August. I will be working within a budget, probably no more than $250-300 and I would prefer a 50mm objective. Right now I am looking at a Nikon ProStaff 3-9x50. My hunting conditions vary through the season as it usually never cools off full from Oct-January here and I am hunting in anywhere from 30-90* temps. I also will have several places set up to hunt; from heavy woods right of way to open field with my longest shots reaching about 250 yards.
Is there anyone using this particular scope that has any possible pros/cons or comparisons to the Buckmaster (original not the 2)? Are there any other scopes in that you would suggest taking a look at? I am not picky about any particular reticle and the only brand I am not really interested in at the moment is Bushnell. I've got plenty of time to research any suggestions you guys have.
Thanks in advance!
