Nilakka - Not exactly useful, but not exactly resistible

The Nilakka design is probably too fragile for anything but light kitchen duty, yet it's executed so perfectly that I couldn't help but bought on the spot when I paid the local knife store a visit today. It's not exactly useful; it's not exactly cheap, but it's definitely irresistible.

It's not a hard use, blacked out, tactical mall ninja knife like so many seem to want, but I like it.

The Nilakka is a favorite model. A Japanese style blade would work in that handle oh so well.

I use mine a lot. I don't chop up concrete blocks or stab car doors with it, but I do use it for a knife. With a few sharpenings it carves hardwood with ease, the shape works well for a variety of tasks and it looks good as well. It may not be the best choice for covertly deanimating enemy sentries, but it works pretty well in the real world for the real things that real pocketknives should be reasonably expected to do.

The knife really looks good. I love the finish on G10. I can only wish that more Spydercos would have this finish.

Is this what you do with the rest of your spydies?:)

No, those are thing I don't do with any knife. Those are things I don't think anyone with two brain cells to rub together would ever consider doing, but they seem to be important to a lot of people around here.

Besides being such a gorgeous knife, it has a great tip that I find extremely useful for EDC tasks.

I have full confidence that with a couple of sharpening to bring the micro bevel a little higher and a little stronger, the knife can be very useful for edc tasks, but the factory configuration is not quite there yet. The tip on the other hand, requires more close attention even after resharpening, kinda like the South Fork but even a little more extreme.

In any case, I'll carry the Nilakka with me just to fondle with, and I'm fine with it.
