Nimravus D2 or 154CM?

I am going to be buying a Benchmade Nimravus and was wondering witch would be the better blade steel? 154CM or D2? :foot:

154 cm is easier to sharpen and more field friendly. Depends on your use. If you are chopping then D2

Okay, Well this is going to be a tactical/camping knife, Maybe some batoning, cooking etc.

154CM will be better at rust resistance. D2 is a tougher steel

My opinion: 154CM even if chopping. If you own a D2 knife or more and you like it, good. Otherwise, get the 154CM....at least you'll be able to put a fine edge on it.

From what little I understand; D-2 is a tougher steel when compared to CM154.
Eitherway, both steels would work out fine if it doesn't involve carving out a mountain.
However IMHO, it could be overkill havin' D-2 for such a light/medium sized knife.

I admit I am biased about D2. Both of the Nimravii in the pics are 154CM. It sharpens to a very fine, sharp edge.

I can put an edge on D-2 that's every bit as sharp as 154CM.

Now 154CM is a wonderful steel, and I don't mean to denigrate it, but in my experience, D-2 is superior.
