I just got a Nimravus from 888Knivesrus in M2, although I ordered it in 154cm, I wished I ordered it in M2 right after the order was placed (don't ask why I didn't just change it-Redrum and online ordering don't mix), when it arrived my jaw DROPPED.
I have the original(I think) version where there is no marking regarding blade steel (If anyone knows what steel it is please let me know) and noticed some changes:

-"Elishewitz" is written on the right side on the old and not the new?
-The bali-song butterfly is replaced (no biggie)
-The New one has more 'belly'
-The new one's serration grind is higher
-new one has a deeper choil(the index finger groove right?)
-New scales feel thicker and 'grippier'
-New thumb ramp is grooved and not ridged
-The blade is about a mm shorter on the new one???
-lastly WHAT IS UP WITH THE SHEATH, I can't tell if I like it or hate it???

I love my new Nimravus, but does anyone have any insight on these changes? Thanks:)

C'mon, is this just a lame post? I noticed a few changes on the new and old 806d2 too... I feel lonely...:( ;) :)

I liked the old sheaths better, but even those weren't great.

The blade steel on the originals was ATS-34. No other insight, I already have the fixed blades I want in that size range.

Thanks Leroy, one mystery down. I have heard a lot of bad things about the new sheath, but it's starting to grow on me. I like the idea that the thumb rest thingy stops it from falling out accidently, or being drawn by someone else, and it makes a good leverage point for withdrawl. I am not sure how sturdy it is though... It is additionaly very low profile and I like that. If it holds up over time I might just come to love the nifty thing.:)

I haven't had the opportunity to compare the older Nimravus with the newer ones, but since Allen is no longer in their team of custom designers, none of his original designs for Benchmade will bear his name or logo on the right side of the blade. Designs like the Nimravus, Stryker, model 690 and the Tether neck knife were designed by him exclusively for Benchmade, so they own the designs and can still produced them.

Another mystery solved! That's too bad about Mr. Elishewitz no longer working on the design team, that might explain the changes. Another threaf had a link to a Nimravus review that had something to do with Vietnam and Fred Perrin alterations of the Nimravus- I was immediately reminded of it when I got the new one. Thanks Cosmic Superchunk!

Took a picture for anyone who doesn't have both to compare. Sorry for the quality.

Thanks o Benchmade we have the opportunity to test the "new" Nimravus.
New review ahead.

It looks like Les de Asis like Fred Perrin C.U.B. proto enough to change the handle on his Nimravi !

Cheers

JM
