nimravus or seal pup as a last resort...

I just recieved a Seal Pup Elite as a trade. I really like it. It's going into my bug-out bag so I guess thats kind of a last resort blade...

Nimravai.....

Each to his own, but if anyone asked, I would say Nimravus plain edge (no serrations) and NO tanto. That knife of mine has cut and chopped alot of tough stuff, and you can see that the coating is in fairly good condition. They are beautiful to behold when new in box.

Oh and..... argue if you must, but it's HARD to beat BM's 154CM steel.......

I like the Nimravus with tanto point myself. The secondary edge is real easy to sharpen given how straight it is. The black coating started wearing off on mine, so I gave it a 400 grit wet-sanded finish. Looks pretty cool now(but I can't share as I spent all my money on knives(and rent:eek:) instead of a camera.

Nimravus definitley. Nothing against the Seal-pup, just love the Nim's.
Very hardy blades, not too thick or thin and takes a beating. I don't remember which survival school it was but they 'field dressed a Honda' w/a nim cub.

Stan

i dont think the paracords comes with that, whered ya get it???

Well, the green is old stock...ain't no telling where I got that. The camo comes from CountyComm ( http://www.countycomm.com/ ) The braid is, of course, the standard hangman's noose (sometimes called the Reeve's Coil Knot)

I carry a BM Snody 210TK around my neck everywhere except to bed. I use a light desert 550 para that I got from County Comm. It has a double-hole cordlock that they sell....so as to prevent hanging myself if it ever got caught up on something.

The Nimravus is made in the USA. Many of SOG's knives are made in China or Japan, although a good many are made here in the U.S. {Disclaimer: [sigh] No...it isn;t that they're making junk overseas. I'm just a patriot and an idealogue} In fact, I carry a SOG multi-tool ONLY because it proudly displays, right on the pliers, "USA". I don;t know where the Seal Pup is made, but I do kindly like the design. I probablu won;t ever get one though, becasue there are so many others I want that are way ahead on the list. I would buy another BM Nimravus (plain edge this time) before I bought a Seal Pup.

But you know, serrations do have their place. A while back my bud and I were removing a large tree from a horse stables that was closing down. His wife and I tied a 1" crusty nylon rope around the trailer hitch ball and the other end around the tree trunk. This wasn;t to yank it, but just to keep tension on it as we dug and chopped a few of the lesser roots. My buddy warned us the rope was going to tighten up around the ball and we wouldn;t be able to get it off. Guess what? He was right. Finally, Neodor Nimravus appeared. THe serrations sliced through that crusty nylon with nary a drop of sweat. On the Nimravus, with the substantial blade length, you can get away with a few serrations. Still....I prefer the plain edge.

Once you have seen both and handle them, for me the choice is clear = BM Nimravus

The Nimravus uses 154, a clear winner over the AUS8 used in the Seal pup

Yep. You can get them from purveyors too. I forget which ones, maybe KnifeCountry, Savsons, or KnifeCenter.....can't remember. About $30 or less
IN FACT, unless I'm mistaken (that happened once), the BM Nimravus comes with the nylon sheath.
