I am thinking of ordering a Nimravus, and would like to know how you like yours. What have you used your Nimravus for, and how is the edge holding up? Tell me your Nimravus story!

I have one of the early models, marked "first production run 1 of 1000". This is with the poorly designed sheath. Some owners say the new sheath is not much better.

I gave up on the blade simply because the grip was small for my hands. During handling try-outs it allowed too much slip. Also it failed my home-spun sweaty plams/Sun Tan lotion test. Can't comment on the edge, since I never moved onto cutting anything with it.

The knife is designed for low-profile carry, so it's fair to say the grip stikes it's intended design spec.

There are after-market sheaths that vastly improve upon the factory design.

I looked at the Nimravus but ended up with a Fallkniven F1. Really happy with it. The leather sheath that came with it was average but upgraded it to a Normark concealex sheath. Great rig now. Knife + sheath is about what you'd give a for Nimravus.

Got the M2 Nimravus. The sheath is less than pleasing IMHO, but the knife itself is very stout. However, i prefer the Gerber Yari.

It hurts to be on the cutting edge.

As one would expect, the black blade coating is quickly worn by both the sheath and routine use. However, the blade holds a decent edge.

I like mine. ATS-34 version. It mostly cuts air, but I've used it in the kitchen to cut up meats and vegetables, slice bagels, spread margarine and such. Works well and feels pretty good in the hand. I can't seem to get it really (read shaving) sharp using my 203 Sharpmaker, but it cuts very well and I don't need to sharpen it much. Yes, the sheath kinda blows, but I don't tote it around outside in my urban environment so I don't really care. I like the look of the knife much better since I've removed the BT2 coating with Scotchbrite-type pads. I'm thinking of learning how to do a proper hand-rubbed satin polish on it, but the SB finish is fine for a day-to-day user. I think I want an M2 Cub, but then I just bought a Chinook on Saturday and have been eyeing the new Fallkniven G1 dagger... Argh... Need more money.

I have an M-2 Cub, and it is one of my favorites, enough so that I had a custom Mike Sastra sheath made for it. I don't have any problems with rust, and I love the edge that M-2 takes. For the money that I have in this knife though, I would rather have a custom.

The Nimravus is a great design but the handle is alittle on the slick side even though it has a pebble like surface. Here's a picture of a handle I did for a martial arts practioner.

He said the handle was just to slick for fast positive grip changes. I first ground an oval on both sides as an index for grip changes. Then I used a checkering file all around the handle edge. I then checkered the rear portion on both sides for added traction. Before I returned the knife to him I taped the sharp edge and worked with the knife and the checkering really made a difference. Its much more secure when wet or bloody.

I have the M2 Nimravious. It is scary sharp, takes and holds that edge really really well. I have no problem with the sheath. Sure a Kydex one would have been expected, but its ok. I have had no problem with rust either. The BT2 is a weak coating though...

Marks on anything.

Okay, so I revived an old post, but somehow I missed this one and felt compelled to add some things.

I have a NIM Cub in M2 and it is excellent. The factory sheath is a POS in my opinion but I was lucky enough to get a Normark with it which is heads and heels above BM's. I also added a Blade-Tek, Tek-Lok which increased carry options considerably.

If you buy one, spring the extra few bucks for the Normark, you won't regret it

Ok, since this is of my favorites & most used ones I'll say a word or two.
In short I like it a lot

It's been a year since I got my first Nimravus, 140 HSSR. I liked it enough to get 140 HS, 145 HS, and one more 140 HS, stripped

For small utility tasks IMHO it's an excellent knife.
I use edge pro as usual, so never had problems with sharpening.
It can really hold the edge, and few strokes on the ceramic stick are enough to bring back the scarry sharp edge.
Never had any problems with rust, no even on the stripped Nimravus, let alone BT2 coated ones.

I have a small review on my website.

I have a Nimravus in M2, great knife. I've taken it on two, one day hiking trips. Since it doesnt have a really steep point, it is great for general outdoors duties. Was expecting to hold an edge a little better than I am getting considering its in M2. Had a custom kydex sheath made, that I think "hugs" the knife a little better.

I'm newly a Nimravus Cub owner. A previous owner had stripped off the black coating, and I think it looks pretty slick this way! :-)

Haven't carried it much yet, as the stock sheath doesn't work so well. Glad to own this, though!

I had a Nimravus cub, which I stripped the coating off of and hand rubbed it to 2000 grit finish.
It had the old style sheath, which I modified to an IWB.
It was nice this way but still it just wasnt for me.
It had a nice edge on it when I got it, and I hadnt used it any when I polished it, and it gave me a nice cut on the end of my finger which went unnoticed until blood started showing up all over the work table. lol So mine at least was sharp.
Oh yeah it was ats-34. I was pleased with it generally, and it would have been a handy knife, carried good too, but it just wasnt for me.

I remember someone once described the Nimravus as a folding knife that doesn't fold - that sounded about right. I might end up with a 140hs one day.
