Hello Good People: I want your oppinion on what is the best Ninja Sword to have for serious ninjutsu study. I need a sturdy sword that will survive training and will be able to serve as a tool if needed.
I have been initially impressed with the model that has all the hidden throwing knives and the shurieken in the hand guard but I can see now that maybe this itiem is really tourist grade junk. Please tell me what you think.

Ninja did not use the popular straight "ninja" sword, but if that is what you are looking for the Kris Cutlery ninja-To would be the best IMO. Off all the swords on the market, the one closest to a real ninja-to is the long handled wakizashi sold at www.n-i-n.com. Ninja also used regular katana, so any usable katana such as thouse from Kris Cutlery or Hanwei should work.

The sword you mention is made of junky 420J2 steel and makes a lot of noise because of all the gadgets.

Benjamin: Thank you for the good link and the info. Can anyone tell me why the 'ninja" swords have a more pointed end to the scabbard than the other Japanese sword scabbards? Thanks Pipey

Do a google search for "practical ninja" made by hanwei. Its a more Japanese looking Ninja then The KC one and has been reviewed as being of equal-ish quality as the KC one.

Thanks for your input my Celtic cousin! I have found a reasonably priced ninja sword on Ebay for 49.95 from a company called Grendel's Cave. Any one know about their products?

true ninjas never used a straight sword... those are gimmick swords... ninjas used the same swords as samurai so they would not stand out in a crowd. (learned that on discovery channel :) )
