Easy to use, looks great, and fast enough for me (I'd rate it as a slow DSL connection, definitely faster than dial-up). I bought this for use on campus when I dont want to lug around my laptop (not to mention battery life is much better than laptop), but it is good enough that I'm using it at home for checking quick things like email or PM's. Taking into account time it takes to boot a computer, the DS is pretty fast.

Stuff I can do on it:
Check email/pm
Compose email/pm (has letter recognition, so you can "write" stuff out pretty fast, like on a PDA)
Search google with images
etc

Stuff I can't do:
Play games or flash (like addicting games.com)

Problems: At times it can be slow, so it is not perfect. With a little patience, this is not a big problem.

I am quite happy with it :)

Yea, I'd like to know how to do this myself. Mine has been sitting on the shelf for 6 months without being turned on, maybe my 130 bucks wasnt a waste.

It needs a QWERTY, otherwise, I might pick up the combo just for wifi. BTW: can you do AIM?

The touchscreen can do either handwriting recognition or an on screen QWERTY keyboard. Writing is easier for me.

There is no AIM as far as I know. Perhaps AIM express will work, but the conversation on the DS would be slow anyway (to type) so I havent tried it.

I was thinking about getting the browser card...are you able to get sound/music?

I dont think so. Unless there are some non-flash websites that play sounds, i dont think you will hear anything. I could be wrong though.

Is service available only at Wi Fi hotspots?

Yes. It uses wifi and you basically set it up like you would a laptop. Choose connection, enter password if there is one, and go online.

The browser is sold as a game and costs $30. It comes with the browser cartridge and a memory cartridge that goes into the gameboy game slot. You just plug the two carts in and turn it on. The home screen is not on the internet and it gives you the chance to put up to 3 links to start out on. Once you click the links, it will display that it is connecting to the network and you will be able to go online.

It also has other nice features, like bookmarks and a search feature to find something on a web page or on a search engine (i set mine up for google, but default is yahoo).
