Now I've read all of the debates on the forums about PS2 vs. X-Box, and I was wondering what you guys all thought of the Gamecube. I think it looks cool, (in jet black) even though most people think it looks gay or childish.

I've also played it and I can tell you, Super Smash Bros. Melee alone is a great reason to buy one. I thought the controller was very comfortable, except for the Z button. It's kinda hard to reach. One huge thing that makes me undecided though is the games. other than SSBM, I really don't know what's on Nintendo's release schedule or what they're even planning on at all. I know most people accuse Nintendo of being childish. That's probably pretty right, considering they aim their systems more at kids and teenagers.

Also, from seeing the system, it seems like it shouldn't even be in the same class as the PS2 and X-Box b/c the Gamecube is built almost entirely for multiplayer, alot like N64. Especially considering the size and the handle on the back (most likely for taking it to sleepovers)

So that's basically what I know so far, tell me whatcha think.

The common concensus among gamers is that it's primarily for kids. which means good quality clean games. Which is great if you like that sort of thing. Me, I like blowing zombies up into bloody chunks.

I think Nintendo tried to break out of that mold with games like Conker's Bad Fur Day. Not sure it worked.

As much as I love blowing up zombies (Usually with House of the Dead 2 on my Dreamcast), Nintendo has alot of great offerings. I played Rogue Squadron compulsively when I had a N64 and now I want a Gamecube for Rogue Leader!!

I say look at the games available. I know it is hard with the new systems that just came out, but I think finding games you like is much more important than how many pixels a system can push.

I do too, Bandit. I thought it was interesting that the GC is going to be the "primary system" for the future Resident Evil games (according to Electronic Gaming Monthly). Now, as far as what "primary system" designates, I'm not at all sure. Also, Perfect Dark is a masterpiece of a game for the N64- Perfect Dark Zero is upcoming for the GC.

If I had to guess I'd say "primary system" means those of us with a PS2 who want to play Resident Evil will have to wait longer for the PS2 version to become available. I seriously considered buying a Dreamcast when Code: Veronica was available for that only, and now I'm glad I didn't.
