Hi guys(and gals),

I am considering buying 1 or 2 Spyderco R with the Nishijin handles and I am wondering how scratch resistant is that nice polished glass finish. Can any user of this material comment on it's durability?

Thanks,

Emmanuel

About the same as high gloss CF which, as scale materials go, is fairly scratch resistant. Certainly more so than brushed stainless, anodized aluminum or anodized titanium.

It seems pretty durable to me so far. Any scratches that show up you have to really search for, and I'm not certain that they weren't there to begin with.

The only thing I will note is that it does have a tendency to chip a little bit around the holes for the clip. Nothing too noticeable unless, again, you go hunting for it.

hey thanks for the feedback guys. I'll be getting at least one of them pretty soon. I'm waiting on my Manix 2 XL right now, couldn't resist after handling my Superleaf and edc'ing it for while. Spyderco sure doesn't disappoint do they! :)

regards,

Emmanuel

My Lum Chinese gets carried and used a lot, and has one scratch on it so far, but it's only visible from an angle.
