Nit-picking Calypso Jr. question

My Calypso Jr. is around 3 years old now. One of the nicest knives I've ever owned except for one thing. Good looking, holds an edge well, and the edge touches up nicely with a stone.

When I first got it, it opened up slicker than snot on a doorknob and when closing, it would eventually hit one spot and "snick", it would finish closing by itself. Lately, the action has become a little lethargic and slightly more difficult to open and close. I've kept it clean, and I've tried several lubes and nothing seems to make a difference. It is possible that something I used in the past messed with the micarta and gummed up the works? What's the best way to clean between the blade and the scales and what would be the best lube to try to get it working easily again? I've tried searching the archives about lubes but nothing really addressed whether or not anything would mess up the micarta.

Try flushing with WD- 40 aerosol. Let it work in for a few minutes. If you have access to a compressor, air blast the entire unit thoroughly. Apply your favorite lube. I do this on a regular basis at the shop and always works. There has been no visble nor mechanical damage to any of my micarta folders/ fix blades. Have fun.
